Moving on and moving out

Today marks the day of yesterday's decisions and your future's compliance. What do I mean by that?

Today you have decided to take that catastrophic turn down the road of grown-upville. Whether you are transferring your cellphone bill in your name or staring at the empty brown boxes in your bedroom, you have started your journey. You also may or may not be lost and confused about what exactly is it that comes next. That is where I come in. Consider me your fairy-life-has-hit-me-Godmother. Has a nice ring to it, right?

*Now I must offer an disclaimer. In no way, fashion, or form am I a veteran on transcending from adolescence to full-fledge adulthood. Neither am I a novice. I am simply a neutral party. With that being stated, let's dive right in!

So you are thinking about moving out, or you are moving out and you have become overwhelmed with the simple task of planning for point A, B and C. You do not know where to start and certainly do not know where the madness will end. But freight not my fresh college student, all will be resolved if you follow this simple step:

Number one, you need to sit down and P. L. A. N! As cliche as it sounds or as time consuming it may seem (for you lazy-doo's out there) I promise you it is simple and as easy as inhaling and exhaling!

Speaking of such elementary breathing techniques, the first letter of the P. L. A. N. acronym requires just that! The P in the P. L. A. N. acronym stands for Patience. Yes my young grasshopper, you cannot run away from patience (Trust me I've tried and I ran Track!) it is simply inevitable. Now before I even lose myself in a prolonged explanation of patience, I will jump right into the importance of it in our little situation.

Being patient will allow you to avoid the hassle of stressing yourself out. You have to remain calm for things to remain steady. Instead of worrying about whether or not you will receive the key to your apartment/dorm today or tomorrow, take a breather and smile at the fact that you have made it thus far. Trust me, that key will come sooner than you think if you relax and stay abreast of the positives!

In addition to maintaining your patience, the next letter in our beautiful and resourceful acronym is L! Now before you go off in a tangent of childish giggles, I understand the worth of a handy letter L. Well whatever you think you know about that innocent letter, drop it for just a few minutes (or for the rest of this blog) and read me out. For now on, the letter L stands for Longitude. As is said in this blog, as is done.

When touching on the point of Longitude, I am speaking in terms of time. How far ahead have you planned for your moving goals? When do you plan on actually deciding on that dorm/apartment? When do you plan on saving up for those fees or for your rent?

These questions are obviously important for the longitude of your moving process. You have to set goals within your longitude as well, make sure everything (that you can control) will work in whatever time you have set for completion. This may seem stressful but if you remember our first letter of the P. L. A. N. acronym and follow that religiously, you will fair well.

Next letter in our P. L. A. N. acronym is A! Many of us are not too fond of this one. We all want to be the dictator, never the acolyte or the helper. This could work in some instances, but unfortunately for you my dear dictator, your moving out requires more than a party of one. Therefore our letter A represents Ask (for help of course!) simple, huh?

As it should be my little dictator. We all need a little help here and there. What better way to receive it than to ask for it? How does that old saying go? Asketh and thou shalt receiveth? I don't know, but you get the simple point of this here. Along with patiently waiting for that key, ask for tips regarding dealing with and preparing for that dorm/apartment. I promise you, I asked so many questions I should be a contestant on Jeopardy! What is bathroom supply shopping 101 for 300 Alex?

Last but not least, the root of our handy little acronym; letter N. Now the letter N simply stands for Never. Yes a clever little never will help ease your mental burdens caused by the hands of impatience and anxiety. I will admit, even I had a hard time trying to decipher the meaning of this one. It does have a quite awkward place in the P. L. A. N. acronym.

Nonetheless I gave Never a bit of thought. never could mean anything. Never could also be placed in front of anything (Metaphorically speaking here) and so it was defined. Never is it! Never worry. Never stress. Never give up. When the process seems overdrawn and is beginning to leave you a bit weary, simply remember to never. Next to being patient, I would say never is a pretty nice part of the P. L. A.N. acronym.

All in all, just take a breather and relax, man (or woman!). Everything will work out for your good and if it doesn't, remember to P. L. A. N. Be patient. Think about longitude. Ask for help. Most importantly, remember your never's. You can do this soldier and you are not alone. I am your Fairy-life-has-hit-me Godmother and I am here for you (In spirit of course!) to aid you down the road of grown-upville. It will be one heck of a ride, but with me in your corner you will only suffer a few bumps and bruises!

Until then, we can just work on surviving packing for the high-way! You can do this, because it is all According to M.E.
